A business sitting at 0.5x with no debt might simply be under-leveraging itself, passing up cheap capital that could fund growth. - DSCR asks: can this year's cash flow cover this year's actual loan payments? A business can have healthy EBITDA and still be cash-strapped if it's plowing money into inventory or equipment. Judging leverage off a single quarter. One-time events — a large asset sale, a temporary cash infusion, a slow month — can swing the ratio sharply.
